Terms of Use

These terms govern access to Jefferson County Criminal History. Visiting a page, reading its content, or using a search feature means you agree to these conditions. Do not continue using the site if you reject them.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated site has no government affiliation. Neither the site nor its advertising partners offer a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other Fair Credit Reporting Act purposes. Jefferson County and Texas record resources are general references. We are neither a private investigation firm nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site with no government connection. It does not store official records, retrieve records for a visitor, perform an official background check, or submit filings.

Content routes readers to Jefferson County custodians, including the Sheriff's Office and court clerks, and to Texas DPS and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. Some pages also contain tools operated by outside providers.

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the site, you agree not to:

  • Use site content for an FCRA-regulated decision
  • Harass, stalk, threaten, or intimidate another person
  • Violate federal, Texas, or local law
  • Attempt unauthorized system access
  • Operate bots, scrapers, or automated collection tools against the pages
  • Disrupt service or interfere with another visitor's access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Site content and linked results may not be used to stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or unlawfully discriminate. Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 62 makes most registry information public for safety and notice, not vigilantism. Threats or harassment directed at a listed person may violate Texas Penal Code §§22.07 or 42.07 and other law.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not prepare consumer reports, credit reports, or official background checks. Data from this site or a linked tool may not be used to:

  • Make an employment decision
  • Evaluate a housing application
  • Set insurance eligibility or terms
  • Decide credit eligibility
  • Make any other decision regulated by the FCRA

A regulated purpose requires an authorized, FCRA-compliant process. This site and its general record links are not that process.

5. No Legal Advice

Site content is not legal advice. General information about Jefferson County records cannot determine how a charge, warrant, conviction, expunction, or nondisclosure law applies to one set of facts. Seek a licensed Texas attorney for legal guidance.

6. No Warranties

All content and functions are provided "as is." We make no promise that:

  • Outside search results are complete or correctly matched
  • Content is always accurate, complete, or current
  • Pages contain no errors or security flaws
  • Access will remain uninterrupted

Records can change when a charge is filed, dismissed, corrected, expunged, or made subject to nondisclosure. Only the originating government office can provide an official statement.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links can lead to county offices, courts, Texas agencies, legal resources, and outside search services. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability, pricing, or data practices. Their terms apply after you leave this site.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Jefferson County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, distributed, modified, or used to create derivative work without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damages arising from use of the site or reliance on content from it or a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, demands, or actions caused by your use of the site or breach of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

Texas law governs these terms. A dispute connected with site use must be filed in a court located in Texas.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms. A revision takes effect when the updated text is posted here.

13. Cutting Off Access

We may restrict or end access at any time, for any reason, without notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue in force. The affected provision is modified only as far as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these terms may be directed through the Contact page.
